DSPA 2024-2025
Open Volunteer Positions

Thanks for your interest in joining the DSPA! Being a member means you get to influence your child’s early education and connect with other parents. It’s all about making your child’s experience better and building a tighter school community.

The following positions run throughout the length of the school year and we meet as a DSPA Board usually bi-weekly and virtually. If you are interested in volunteering for specific school events instead, please visit our event volunteer form.

  • The Community Service Chair will coordinate projects enabling our children and families to contribute to our local community. They will identify service opportunities aligned with our preschool's values, integrating age-appropriate activities into the curriculum quarterly.

  • The Room Parent Coordinator will act as the main liaison between the DSPA and room parents in the preschool. Their duties include recruiting and assigning room parents for each classroom, offering guidance and resources on volunteer activities and classroom participation, and arranging room parent meetings. Additionally, they will work with the DSPA board to pinpoint needs and opportunities for parent involvement in classroom activities.

  • The Communications Chair will oversee communication among the DSPA, school, and parents. Their role involves keeping parents informed about school events, activities, and important updates. They will write and schedule weekly DSPA newsletters for school staff and families. Additionally, as the committee chair, they will collaborate with members to devise effective communication strategies within the community. The communications committee comprises the Room Parent Coordinator, Website Administrator, and Graphic Designer.

  • The Graphic Designer will craft visual content for our website, marketing materials, school merchandise, yearbook, and communication channels. Additionally, they will design a new DSPA logo in collaboration with the school administration and DSPA board. Throughout the school year, the graphic designer will also aid in promoting various DSPA projects. The Graphic Designer’s work will play a vital role in contributing to the overall success of the DSPA and benefit the school community. The Graphic Designer does not need to attend bi-weekly meetings.

  • The Parent Volunteer Coordinator will actively engage with parents and teachers within the school community. They will recruit, coordinate, plan, and organize all parent volunteer opportunities both on and off campus. They will communicate with and provide guidance to parent volunteers who have signed up to help with activities, including setting the time and location, instructing them where to check-in upon arrival, and assigning responsibilities for the day.

  • A Yearbook Staff Photographer will have the opportunity to capture precious moments and memories of your child’s school events and activities. Photographers must be able to attend most events hosted at the school, which can sometimes include up to three events per week, typically from 9 am to 12 pm. Yearbook Staff Photographers do not need to attend bi-weekly meetings.

  • The Yearbook Staff Editor will contribute to creating a lasting memento for students and staff, preserving memories of the school year. They will collaborate with the Yearbook Editor on designing events pages, class pages, and special features. While the Yearbook Staff Editor will be involved in yearbook activities throughout the year, the majority of the designing work will take place from January to May. Yearbook Staff Editors do not need to attend bi-weekly meetings.
